Big Brutha hits two comments absolutely out of the park:
The level of depravity here is breath-taking. The fact that we should even be aware of some of these kinds of things is a reflection on the evil that pervades our society. This (((Sulkowicz))) woman is a circus freak/depraved reprobate. And is all the more reason to stay far away from these kinds of women and keep the commandments of God by holding faithful to the Law of Chastity.
One of the things that this brings to mind it how pervasive perversion is today. I keep hearing from libertarian types that if I do not like such things I should just change the channel or not watch it. Of course, this does not account for pop ups on computer or billboards or magazine covers in grocery stores or music lyrics played in public places. It is a bit like telling people who do not like the smog coming out of coal fired power plant: if you don’t like it, just don’t breathe.
The other thing libertarian types do not take into account is that virtue is hard and vice is easy. It is hard to do the right thing and keep to the straight and narrow. It is relatively easy to slide off the path and a lot tougher to get back on. Libertarians are all about freedom to choose but they forget that youth can be easily subverted from the right way and lose their freedom to choose forever because of a single stupid choice, whether through legal consequences, false accusations, addiction, etc.
That is why the idea that teens and adults should be free to do what they want behind closed doors is so pernicious: because the consequences of those choices do not remain behind closed doors. If you smoke pot your altered mind (even after you are not ‘high’) is there for all of the public to interact with whether they want to or not. I have an uncle so cooked from drugs that he can scarcely tie his own shoes. You think that “private” drug usage does not have a real world effect on his wife (now ex-wife) and children? You think having a dad who is a druggie does not create social ills we all have to pay for?
If you do then I have some beach front property to sell you somewhere near Tucson.
(((Emma Sulkowicz))) is both a victim and perpetrator of a depravity and a depraved culture. Again, we need to keep the Law of Chastity and the other commandments. We need to free ourselves from the mind viruses of porn, feminism, Social Justice, Cultural Marxism, etc. and other subversive and degenerate ideas cooked up by Satan and those who uphold his works. We need to tell kids not just that these things are bad spiritually but that they are bad physically and that their are people getting rich off of their slavery to these things. It is also cannot be overstated that these ideas have caused more blood to be spilled than even Communism or Nazism to say nothing of the residual damage to families and communities that the dissolution of homes has caused.
This is a very important post. The Lord determines who will have what and who will have it when in His Kingdom. I was born on the day the announcement was made and I was always glad growing up that I lived after the long awaited day had come when all could have a chance to receive all the blessings in this life.
Of late I have seen far too many Latter-day Saints, even those who ought to know better, attribute the policy to malignant racism on the part of Brigham Young and its perpetuation to similar inclinations on the part of his successors.
The truth is we will never know what would have happened if they had not had the policy in place because we did not live through that eventuality.
But I can imagine many problems that such a thing might have caused. Imagine if you will, black members of the Church marrying polygamously to white women? Do you think the people of America would have let the Church alone? Not a chance. They would have stormed in and burned Utah to the ground and Mormons, black and white, with it.
No…there was wisdom there and restraint. The Church is a missionary Church and might have gained many black converts if it had sought to. The Church could have converted whole plantations full of blacks members if they had the inclination. But that would likely have embroiled the Church in the Civil War.
No. That would have helped no one. The Church was struggling to survive and that would have created havoc when it could I’ll afford it. The Lord knew that there would have to be some fundamental changes in the country before that policy change would be a blessing rather than a hindrance.
But we are here now and we live in the era when these blessings are available to all. And it was done in the due time of the Lord and in His own way.
Those who criticize the prophets and think they can see the way ahead better than they ought to beware. They risk the safety of they own souls.
Thank you Big Brutha for your words of wisdom.
